How to Make the Most of an Outdoor Party

June 27, 2017

Summer is the perfect month for garden parties. If you’re planning a little get together with your friends, why not go all out and make the most of it? Summer is the time for creating memories and having adventures. So, let your hair down and really enjoy yourself. Here’s how to make your outdoor party one to remember.

Don’t just tell everyone about your get together, formally invite them. Receiving a written invitation will save your guests from having to remember dates and times. Life is busy and it’s easy to forget about an event if you haven’t got a constant reminder in front of you, especially during the Summer when there are many events packed into the same weeks. Get creative and send your family and friends an invite that they won’t easily forget about.

Have Enough

No-one wants to turn up at a garden party and have to stand the whole evening because the host only has five chairs. If you’re inviting more people than you usually have in your garden, it’s important to cater for everyone. Have enough space for people to eat, have enough chairs for people to sit, have enough glasses for people to drink. You get the gist. You need to think ahead and plan accordingly.

The great thing about Summer evenings is that it stays warm enough for everyone to be outside until late into the night. If you really want to end your party with a bang, why not dedicate a space in your garden for a bonfire or fire pit using dry firewood? Pass some blankets around for anyone that’s getting a little cold and you can even let your guests indulge in some smores as a treat. It’s easy to manage and easy to put out, so you’ve got nothing to lose.

Crank Up the Music

Now is not the time to worry about the neighbours. Life is for the living, so put your favourite music on and let everyone dance the night away. One of the best systems for music in or out of the house is Sonos because you can control the speakers from your smartphone. That way, you can pause, change the song or alter the volume from wherever you are, without having to leave your guests or get up from your seat.

Offer Food

It doesn’t matter whether you make a three-course dinner or a buffet; your guests will need food. It’s not just a way of adding to the party, it’s also the best way to make sure that your guests don’t misbehave. Everyone enjoys an alcoholic drink at a Summer party, and there are some people who aren’t sure of their limits. Having food around is the best way of making sure everyone stays fairly sober.

As the guest, you set the tone for the party. If your guests can tell you’re nervous or worried about something, they may not be able to relax. If they know you’re in a good mood and you’re ready to party, they’re more likely to feel the same way.
