How to Wear this Season’s Trickiest Beauty Looks

May 3, 2017

This is a guest post written by Elise Morgan!

The year 2016 was all about half buns, crimped locks, contouring, and “makeup on fleek”. This year has prepared something completely new for all of us. Here are some of the trickiest and coolest trends you will see everywhere this year and proper ways to rock them.

Mermaid eyes

Forget all about dark and smoky eyes. The new eye makeup trend, Mermaid eyes, is here to enchant you. By embracing this technique, your eyes will not only pop, but you will instantly unleash your inner Ariel. You can achieve this by applying shimmery purple shade on the inner halves of your eyelids, blue on outer halves and green below the eyes. Finish it off with some gold at the inner corners and blend it all with a fluffy brush. Make sure you are using quality brushes if you want to look the best way possible. Mascara and eyeliner are optional.

Slicked back hair

This is a hairstyle that finally made a comeback. And no, you don’t have to have a flawless Zendaya-like face because this hairstyle looks good on literally everyone. The bonus perk is that it is also suitable for all hair lengths. And many of us tend to underestimate this hairstyle and think of it as a do which is super-easy to achieve, but just wait till your baby hairs start fighting back. You will need a lot of patience, extra strong hairspray (or hair wax), and a strong hair brush. It is time to show off your beautiful face with pride.

Mega long (Rapunzel long) hair

There is long hair, there is super long hair, and then there is mega long hair – hair that grazes underneath your hips. But as we all know, it takes years to grow your hair that long, so if you don’t have the patience, simply get yourself some mega long hair extensions. Many celebrities are embracing this trend right now, from Kim K all the way to Cher. It is glamorous, it is sexy, and it fulfills our child fantasies of having that Rapunzel hair, right?

Don’t worry, it is not a hard, contouring-like technique. Strobing is just a new and fun term for highlighting. The year 2017 is going to be all about embracing your natural glow with an extra amount of highlighter and no bronzer. To achieve this look use highlighter only on the places that catch the light so as to avoid looking sweaty. So, next time after powdering, put few layers of highlighter on the highest part of your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose and on your brow bone. Finish it off by applying some blush with a blush brush, just make sure you use high-quality real techniques brushes, and you are good to go.

Hair trends may change over the years, but blonde hair never goes out of style. The best thing about this hair color is that it makes young girls seem older and way sexier, while at the same time makes older ones look much younger. The key is to find your perfect shade. If you have a fair complexion, opt for cool tones, such as white blonde or silver blonde, and if your skin is darker, opt for warmer and deeper colors, such as blorange, creamy blonde, baby blonde or bronde.

Metallic nails

They have been around for a while now, and as it seems they are going to stay with us for quite some time. There are many variations – you can opt for classic mirror-like ones or you can spice them up with green, yellow, blue, red, or pink. You can easily achieve this look at home with the right tools. All the ingredients you need are a nail gel, a nail UV lamp and a sparkly powder. That’s right – chrome is rubbed onto your nails – it is not a nail polish.

That would be it, the ultimate beauty trends for this season that are waiting for you to rock them. How do you like these trends? Let us know in the comments.
